So I finallly climbed an actual mountain! Well, most of one. The climbing clubs’ traditional trip to North Wales was last weekend. And it was the wrong weather for actual climbing, so we went for a scramble up Tryfan instead. Pretty nice to start with, albeit hard work, I have a lovely picture of me sitting on the Cannon, about halfway up.

It did get a bit scary near the summit though because we were up in the clouds so it was wet and windy, so all the rocks were slippery and the wind was making a pretty determined effort to blow us off the mountain. So we were within about 50 metres of the summit when we decided things were getting too dangerous and found a way around and down the other side.

The downclimb got pretty scary though, cause the path was basically a wet and slippy skree slope and heather covering uneven ground, so it took us a loooong time and it by the time we hit the final two ridges (thankfully just grass covering solid ground), it was dark enough to be using headtorches.

So now I’ve been all achey and sore and bruised for the last couple of days, as well as having ripped my waterproofs on the way, which means everything got soaked, as did the contents of my bag. That said, I’d love to go back up there in summer sometime when there might be some good weather, then I can get a photo of me standing on the Adam and Eve stones.

Still, 865 metres of a 915 metre mountain isn’t half bad for a nine hour scramble

So we spent the next day having a gentle hike around  Llyn Idwal, since apart from being achey enough I couldn’t move my arms properly, most of my clothes were still wet, so I didn’t have the warm clothes for the standing around involved in climbing. That said, the walk around Llyn Idwal was great, we ate a lovely lunch on a lovely beach with a lovely view, and told riddles. And the Tuna Mayo wan’t all that bad given I was the one who made it (very badly). =)

Photos are on the way, I just need to organise them and mess with the contrast a little so you can actually see them.

Which reminds me, my new graphics tablet finally arrived, I’m having a little difficulty with the pressure sensitivity, but for some reason that just doesn’t surprise me. Bloomin’ Cranky. -_-

Oh! Some of the people who wanted postcards still haven’t sent me thier address, so they need to do that as soon as possible. =)
